SCAN is a selective network- By design.

SCAN is built on Trust.

It is not open to just anyone – and that is intentional.

SCAN is a distinct and highly selective network comprised of companies that have earned the trust of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) a foreign Customs administration under a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) with the United States, or the SCAN Association through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the local Customs. That is why SCAN does not certify its own members: eligibility is earned before joining SCAN.

All SCAN Members are either CTPAT or a member of an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program in a country under an MRA with the U.S or an MOU with SCAN. 

Going Beyond the Standard

CTPAT and AEO certification represent the global baseline trusted-trader standard. SCAN membership represents the next step up.

By joining SCAN, companies move beyond individual certification and commit to applying the trusted-trader standard consistently across their supplier base and global operations.
